A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Asim Piracha is the Medical Director at John-Kenyon. He is a trained specialist in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. He is also the Medical Director of NovaMed Surgery Center of New Albany, LLC. Dr. Piracha lectures at local, national and international conferences on advanced techniques in refractive, cataract and cornea transplant surgery. He is a past President of the American Board of Eye Surgery and is on the board of the American College of Eye Surgeons. He routinely publishes articles in ophthalmic trade journals and peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Piracha graduated from West Virginia University’s School of Medicine with top honors and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society. He completed a highly-specialized residency at the University of Kentucky where he was selected Senior Chief Resident in ophthalmology. He completed his fellowship at the University of Minnesota where he specialized in cornea, refractive and anterior segment surgery.
The governor appointed Dr. Piracha to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure to a 4 year term. Dr. Piracha is an associate professor at the University of Louisville’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery. He was named to the esteemed “40 Under 40” list by Business First of Louisville and he was recently named “Top Surgeon for LASIK” in the Louisville Magazine.
